The importance of electromobility continues to grow

Herisau, 17.04.2025 (PresseBox) - According to a recent study, German companies can save billions if they switch to electromobility.

The analysis concludes that around 5.6 billion euros per year could be saved if vehicle fleets consisted of electric vehicles rather than combustion engines. The savings should amount to more than 50 percent. Reducing fossil fuels therefore not only benefits the environment, but also lowers operating costs. This is especially true when solar power is used.

The analysis combined electricity from the grid, from the company's own photovoltaic systems and from fast-charging stations. Intelligent charging systems with intelligent control are important points here. Self-learning artificial intelligence systems could make an important contribution here. Electromobility has the potential to become the standard technology, particularly in long-distance transportation. Long-distance electric buses and electric truck fleets could be the future. This will require high-performance batteries and a nationwide infrastructure of fast-charging stations and intelligent charging systems.

Hydrogen technology, which can replace conventional diesel drives, also offers prospects for long-distance transportation. The refueling time is relatively short and the range is long. Perhaps it is a combination of electromobility and hydrogen technology that will make long-distance transportation more environmentally friendly - and reduce operating costs. Various raw materials are particularly important for the necessary battery systems, for example nickel or copper.

These exist in the advanced Chrome Puddy project of Green Bridge Metals - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/green-bridge-metals-corp/ - in Ontario.

Platinum and palladium are used in automotive catalytic converters. Sibanye-Stillwater - https://www.commodity-tv.com/play/sibanye-stillwater-corporate-update-restructuring-of-us-pgm-already-bears-first-fruits/ - a major producer of these two raw materials, as well as gold. The projects are located in the USA and South Africa, where a large wind farm recently went into operation to supply Sibanye-Stillwater's operations. The company aims to become carbon neutral by 2040.
